Storage tanks are mainly used for heat storage, or accumulation - the boiler heats the storage tank, which then transfers the stored heat to the heating system, allowing the heat to be maintained from a few hours up to a full day, depending on the tank's capacity.
Accumulation tanks can be divided into conventional tanks, which are designed solely for the storage and heating of heating fluid, and sanitary accumulation tanks, which have an enamel-coated interior and can be used for hygienic purposes.
Depending on the storage tank, they may incorporate one or more heat exchangers for connection to solar collectors or other heating sources, the heat carrier of which must not mix with the heating source.
